Professor Otoabasi Akpan
Professor Otoabasi Akpan is a Professor of History of Ideas and International Security Studies (ISS). For twenty-eight years, he has taught at the Universities of Uyo, Port Harcourt, Abuja and Akwa Ibom State University where he is presently teaching and conducting research in the Department of History and International Studies. In the 2022/2023 session, he was a Distinguished Sabbatical Fellow of the prestigious National Defence College (NDC), Abuja. At the moment, he is the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic) of Akwa Ibom State University.
Professor Akpan holds BA (Hons) in History from the University of Calabar, Calabar; MA in History of Ideas from the University of Ibadan, Ibadan; MSc in International Relations and Strategic Studies (IRSS) from the University of Jos, Jos and Ph.D in Diplomatic Studies from the University of Port Harcourt, Port Harcourt.

Professor Otoabasi Akpan is the Chair of the Mary Slessor Institute for African Policy Studies, Chair of the Global Society for the Study, Preservation and Promotion of the Cultural Heritage of Africa, Emeritus President of the Pan-African Historical Society, Convener of the 7th Pan African Congress (to celebrate 50 years of Pan-Africanism in Africa) and National President of the College of Professors in Nigeria (CoPIN).Â
